Canadian Auto Recyclers is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with Canadian privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This website is operated by Canadian Auto Recyclers - Partner Network Inc. (BC1602018). We are a referral service: we produce an estimated value for your vehicle and introduce you to an independent Recycling Partner. We do not purchase, collect, tow, or recycle vehicles ourselves — see our Terms and Conditions.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Personal Information:
- Name, email address, and phone number
- Pickup address and postal code
Vehicle Information:
- Vehicle make, model, year, and condition
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) when provided
- Location of the vehicle for pickup
- Photos of the vehicle, if you choose to submit them
Technical Information:
- IP address, browser, and device information
- Website usage data collected through cookies and analytics
- Advertising click identifiers when you arrive from an online ad
- Communication records (SMS and email exchanged with you)
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
- Provide an estimated quote for your vehicle
- Introduce you to an independent Recycling Partner, who arranges the pickup and payment with you directly
- Send SMS and email messages about your quote, the introduction, pickup scheduling, and follow-up (including a request to review the service)
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- Measure and improve our website and advertising
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and duplicate requests
- Comply with legal and regulatory requirements
3. INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
Recycling Partners: When you request a quote, we share your contact details, vehicle details, and any photos you submitted with an independent Recycling Partner that serves, or is able to serve, your area. Recycling Partners are separate businesses, not owned or controlled by us. They are contractually required to use your information only to evaluate, contact, and serve you regarding your vehicle, and to protect it in accordance with applicable privacy law.
Service Providers: We use third-party providers for SMS and email delivery, data hosting, and vehicle-data lookup (such as VIN decoding). They process information only on our behalf and under our instructions.
Advertising and Analytics: We use Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, and Ads) and Meta (Facebook Pixel) to measure our website and advertising performance. These services receive technical data such as cookies, click identifiers, and the fact that a quote was requested. We do not send them your name, phone number, or email address.
Callback Requests: If you request a callback for an area we do not yet serve, we keep your request and pass it to a Recycling Partner when one becomes available in your area.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or regulatory authority.
We never sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. DATA SECURITY
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information:
- Encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS)
- Secure database storage with access controls
- Regular security assessments and updates
- Access limited to the company's directors and service providers on a need-to-know basis
5. WHERE YOUR INFORMATION IS STORED
Your information is stored on servers located in the United States, and some of our service providers operate there. While outside Canada, your information may be subject to access by courts or authorities under that country's laws. It remains protected by contractual safeguards and this privacy policy.
6. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Under the Personal Information Protection Act (BC) and PIPEDA, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Withdrawal of Consent: Withdraw consent for certain uses. If you withdraw consent to sharing your details with a Recycling Partner, we will not be able to complete the introduction
- Complaint: File a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

7. DATA RETENTION
- Personal information is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy
- Your contact details and vehicle photos are removed from active quote records about 60 days after your request, unless a pickup is in progress
- Quote records may be kept for up to 3 years for legal and business purposes
- Website analytics data is retained in aggregated form
8. COOKIES, ANALYTICS AND ADVERTISING
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to:
- Remember your preferences and improve user experience
- Analyze website traffic and performance
- Measure the effectiveness of our online advertising and show you relevant ads on Google and Meta platforms

9. CUSTOMER REVIEWS
If you submit a review of the service, we may publish it on our website together with the display name you provide. We also display reviews that customers have posted publicly on Google.
10. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last Updated" date above. The version published when you request a quote is the version that applies to that request.
